Aberdeen Inspired is delighted that Aberdeen has once again retained the prestigious Purple Flag accreditation – a UK award that recognises excellence in creating safe, welcoming and vibrant evening and night-time experiences.
For an unprecedented 12 consecutive years, Aberdeen has held this status, making it the only city in Scotland to do so. This achievement reflects the strength of our partnerships and our shared commitment to ensuring the city centre is a place where people feel safe, supported and inspired to spend time after dark.
From the pioneering work of our Street Pastors and the continued funding for Taxi Marshalls, to the co-location of partner agencies in Marischal College and the creative reuse of vacant buildings, Aberdeen is leading the way in how cities can collaborate to support and enhance their evening economy.
This recognition is about more than safety – it’s about creating a thriving city centre that supports local jobs, drives investment, and offers a vibrant mix of culture, hospitality and entertainment.
We are proud to achieve and retain Purple Flag status in partnership with Police Scotland, Aberdeen City Council, Street Pastors, and many local organisations who share our commitment to building a safe, vibrant and welcoming city centre.
