Unlike many street artists who choose to paint on building facades or gable end walls, it’s through colourful tile interventions on roads and pavements that Ememem invites us to (re) discover Aberdeen.
Ememem transforms and 'repairs' cracks and potholes in our roads and pavements with locally sourced colourful ceramic tiles and grout creating mini mosaics. These tiles are pre-cut and cemented into place.
In St Nicholas Kirk graveyard you will find Ememem's work on an old tree trunk, counting the rings to age the tree and celebrating it's life through the tile design. In the tile in the centre reads 'Here lies a tree'.
