Presented as part of the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention (NAFCo), Deiseil: Dancing in Time comes to Cowdray Hall for a special afternoon performance exploring Scotland's rich tradition of percussive step dance.
Combining fiddle music, rhythmic footwork, Gaelic song and storytelling, this immersive new production traces the story of a cultural tradition that was almost lost and the remarkable revival that brought it back to life. At its heart is a powerful story of friendship, heritage and the enduring connections that shape communities and identities.
Through music, movement and narrative, Deiseil takes audiences on a journey through centuries of Scottish tradition, reflecting on themes of culture, belonging and connection. Joyful, thought-provoking and uplifting, the performance shines a light on a unique aspect of Scotland's living heritage and its relevance today.
Following the 55-minute performance, audiences are invited to stay for an open discussion and Q&A with the artists, offering a deeper insight into the creation of the work and the traditions that inspired it.
