Code The City’s 30th hackathon is taking place this weekend.
Civic hacking initiative, Code the City, is teaming up with Our Union Street for a weekend dedicated to the past, present and future of Union Street and Aberdeen’s city centre.
CTC30 is a two-day hackathon which is taking place in Aberdeen this Saturday and Sunday (23-24 September).
Code The City also needs input from subject area specialists, so if you’re a planner, architect, designer, transport specialist or retailer looking for something to do this weekend, this could be the event for you! Coders, data wranglers, designers and other tech-focused people will also be key to the weekend’s success.
This weekend’s event has been sponsored by Our Union Street. Tickets are available here.
The initiative is aiming to answer several challenges over the course of the two-day event, including:
- Looking to harness the power of storytelling with augmented reality to created Union Street based events which help draw people into the city centre – think Aberdeen’s very own version of Pokémon Go.
- Creating a 3D model of Uinon Street which can be used by the Our Union Street team for presentations, what-if scenarios and visualising different choices and options.
- Photographing every building on Union Street and making these openly available.
- Documenting the history of building on Union Street through time.
