The Big Bounce has sprung into action in the heart of Aberdeen – promising four-days of fun for families, all while raising funds for Charlie House.
The event, sponsored by Aberdeen Inspired, opened today (Thursday, August 7) transforming Union Terrace Gardens into a vibrant playground of bouncy castles, slides, inflatable games and a host of other attractions.
And organisers hope to see thousands flocking to the Big Bounce to join in the fun while boosting the work of Charlie House, which aims to improve the quality of life for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families across the north-east.
The event was officially opened this morning, with families supported by Charlie House able to enjoy a relaxed session before opening fully to the public.

John Brebner, chief executive officer of Charlie House, said: “We are delighted to be back here at Union Terrace Gardens after last year, which was a great success.
“The weather is shining on us just now and we are expecting more people to come along this year. Last year we had about 6,000 people coming to the event, so would love to have more than that. I’d love to hit 10,000 if I’m being honest.”
John said the Big Bounce was a vital source of funds for the charity.
“We run several events during the year, this is one of the bigger ones and it is a big fundraiser for us, so it is important for the ongoing support we give to the families.
“Big Bounce is right in the centre of Aberdeen, it’s a family event that’s raising fund for family who need support, it’s summer, the weather is nice, so come along and enjoy yourselves.”

Danuta Dobrzanska, business engagement & development manager for Aberdeen Inspired, also attended today’s ribbon cutting to get the fun underway.
She said: “You know summer has truly arrived in Aberdeen when Charlie House’s Big Bounce bursts into life in, bringing so much joy and fun with it. Aberdeen Inspired is proud to be part of this fantastic event.
“For the next four days Union Terrace Gardens will be a riot of colour and laughter, full of bouncy castles and games to delight of hundreds of children having simply the best time.
“Not only does Big Bounce transform the gardens, it also lifts the city centre by attracting so many people to enjoy the carnival atmosphere but also boost local businesses and attractions.
“Even better is the lift the Big Bounce will bring to Charlie House as it raises funds to help with their vital work across the north-east. Aberdeen is in for a fun-packed – and bouncy – weekend. Enjoy it.”
Gates to the Big Bounce, which is also sponsored by Dandara Living, will open to the public across from His Majesty’s Theatre on Thursday and Friday from 11:30am to 5pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Entry to the event space is free, with tickets and wristbands on sale to join in with the fun.
