A record number of 49 restaurants participated in the fifth edition of the event, which took place from February 24 to March 1.
Foodies also got to try new additions and have their own gastronomic adventure, enjoying Aberdeen in a new way on an exclusive street food experience tour with operational partner Grampian Escapes and Tours, or trying their hand at a range of cookery classes.
Kate Timperley, Aberdeen Inspired Senior Project Manager, said “Our fifth edition of Aberdeen Restaurant Week has proved immensely popular and we’re delighted with the response we’ve had from restaurants and diners alike. We’ve had a record number of restaurants participating this year, with 49 taking part and social media engagement around the event has been phenomenal.
“The great thing about an initiative like this is that we want both the public and businesses involved to benefit. We encourage everyone to go out and explore Aberdeen City Centre, try new things and find new favourites that are right on their doorstep. In turn, our local businesses are given the opportunity to wow people who may not have tried them before and hopefully gain repeat customers going forward. Our new addition for 2020 of a unique Street Food tour proved popular, allow visitors to experience several hidden gems and cuisine from across the world.
“The Granite City continues to prove it has a vibrant nightlife and great cuisine at its heart and this initiative allows us to showcase all that the city has to offer. Although the first Aberdeen Restaurant Week of 2020 has now come to a close, we look forward to running the event again in the summer so watch this space.”
Catherine Shaughnessy, manager of Molly’s Bistro which particpated in Aberdeen Restaurant Week, added : “It has been a fantastic opportunity to showcase our menu which is created using fresh local produce, it has been a pleasure welcoming new customers to Molly's, and we look forward to welcoming them back.”
Participating restaurants offered a special menu at a set price. These included a two-course lunch for £10 and a three-course evening meal for £20. Afternoon tea and tasting menus were priced separately.
