From launching our new campaign bringing Aberdeen 'Together at Christmas' to officially opening the Aberdeen Christmas Village 2019, it has been a very festive couple of months for Aberdeen Inspired. Alongside the festivities the team has been making strides putting Aberdeen on the map for the evening and night time economy including the development of a new Aberdeen City Centre Night-Time Commission and working towards securing Purple Flag accreditation for a seventh consecutive year. Aberdeen Christmas Village 2019!
Including an open-air ice rink with the beautiful backdrop of Marischal College, a selection of fairground rides and attractions, festive food and drink, Friends of ANCHOR Silent Disco Adventure, Santa’s Grotto and our popular Christmas in the Quad market within Marischal College Quadrangle, there is something for everyone to enjoy this Christmas in Aberdeen City Centre. A new digital campaign has been launched (Friday November 29) to showcase the magic of ‘Aberdeen Together at Christmas’. Delivered by Aberdeen Inspired and created by creative production agency Snap Digital, the campaign shines a spotlight on the city centre during the festive period and aims to encourage residents and visitors alike to support local. Lobbying on behalf of retailers on part pedestrianisation of Union Street
Aberdeen Inspired is supporting retail heads in Aberdeen city centre who have a real desire to push forward with partial pedestrianisation of a stretch of Union Street. Our CEO Adrian Watson gave his views on the topic to STV, BBC News and local radio and press. Testimony to the vision of our city council, our retailers have been encouraged by the positive effect that the now pedestrian friendly Broad Street has brought to the city centre. Read more here

Scotland's Towns Conference 2019 - Aberdeen Music Hall
As Chair of the Scottish City Bids Group, Aberdeen Inspired was instrumental in bringing the national Scotland’s Towns Conference 2019 to Aberdeen alongside the Scotland's Towns Partnership. Bringing together over 150 senior level stakeholders from across public, private and third sectors, the conference focused on the need to change the paradigm; through the creation of new economies; and recognising the role of emergent City and Regional Growth Deals and Partnerships in improving the interdependent relationship of hub cities and hinterland towns. Aberdeen City Centre - Purple Flag Assessment 2019
At the end of November Aberdeen Inspired led on the Purple Flag assessment walk through with support from Aberdeen City Council, Police Scotland, Unight, Street Pastors, night-time operators and other key stakeholders. The first Scottish city to hold the coveted Purple Flag, we are aiming for an unprecedented seventh consecutive year, respecting there is absolutely no room for complacency through this rigorous process. Record Breaking Year for Aberdeen International Comedy Festival 2019
Over 10,000 people flocked into the city centre in October to enjoy everything the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival had to offer. In the biggest festival yet, more than 50 comedians performed to capacity crowds in the Granite City with a record 11 sold-out shows and a 42% increase in sales compared to last year. Advisory panel set up to ensure development of night-time economy
The Granite City is paving the way forward in night-time economy management through the creation of the Aberdeen City Centre Night-Time Commission. Acting as a lobbying body on behalf of the night-time economy at a local and national level, the commission is made up of representatives from the cultural and hospitality sector, beauty, leisure, and retail, and economic development and planning. Aberdeen Art Gallery Levy Payer Preview Event
We co-hosted an exclusive preview event of the redeveloped Aberdeen Art Gallery for our levy paying businesses. Alongside the fantastic team at the gallery, over 100 businesses spent the afternoon experiencing all that the gallery has to offer, before it officially opened to the public. Moving forward, the economic impact of this redvelopment will be substantial as visitors and locals take the chance to enjoy both the gallery and everything Aberdeen has to offer as a cultural capital.

Tour of Britain 2019
Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils have agreed a deal to host the Tour of Britain in 2020 and 2021, beginning with the final stage of next year’s race on Sunday 13 September. Building on the success of the Tour Series, which has taken place in Aberdeen City since 2017, the UK’s biggest and longest-running international cycle race will also host its 2021 Grand Depart in the region.
