Pubs, bars, clubs, hotel bars and specialist entertainment venues across Aberdeen now have extra time to apply for Best Bar None accreditation, with the submission deadline extended to Monday, August 31.
Best Bar None works in partnership with the licensed trade to improve public safety, customer care and standards across the nighttime economy, helping to make Aberdeen a safer and more attractive city for residents and visitors.
Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “Best Bar None will set the benchmark for the finest customer care and be the gold standard for customer safety in Aberdeen’s hospitality sector. I would urge as many venues as possible to be part of this scheme which will put them and their outstanding staff in the spotlight.
“The Granite City has some of the best pubs, bars and clubs in the country and Best Bar None will only add to that reputation while reassuring visitors they will have a memorable and safe night out in our welcoming and vibrant city centre.”
Councillor Martin Greig, culture spokesperson for Aberdeen City Council, said: “We saw just how many people were in our city centre watching the World Cup and enjoying the fantastic hospitality and atmosphere offered by our local businesses.
“The Best Bar None scheme will give venues the chance to showcase the work they are already doing to support a safe, welcoming and vibrant night-time economy. I hope all interested venues find out more about how they can get involved.”

The scheme focuses on public safety and customer care, giving each licensed venue the opportunity to prove that they meet a certain standard of operation.
Benefits for those who participate include:
- Raising the profile of your venue and Aberdeen as a safe place where people can enjoy a night out;
- The opportunity to show staff and customers that your venue has an interest in their safety and security;
- Access to professional advice on community safety, crime reduction and business continuity issues for management and staff, and;
- The chance to receive an inspection by a qualified assessor to identify good practice and receive advice on a wide range of issues.
- Venues who take part can also attend the Aberdeen Best Bar None awards ceremony, with the best premises in each category going forward to the Best Bar None Scotland National awards next year.
Those interested in applying should submit an application by Monday, August 31, 2026.
