Aberdeen Inspired today welcome the update from the First Minister that the restrictions put in place just before Christmas will end from Monday 24 January. This means nightclubs and late night venues can reopen, large indoor events can resume and social distancing rules are dropped. The rules around the wearing of face coverings remain and the Scottish Government will now engage with business on a ‘hybrid’ approach in relation to a return to the office which is hoped will begin from 1st February.

Adrian Watson, Chief Executive said “Whilst we welcome the relaxation of the measures put in place before Christmas, it is disappointing to hear that the ‘return to office’ has been further delayed. The daily footfall that this generates is, in many respects, the lifeblood of our daytime economy in Aberdeen and be assured we will continue to feed-in directly to government on this concern.

“Moreover, we feel that government needs to place a greater focus on providing clearer guidance that works towards enabling businesses to determine for themselves the safest and best way to fully return to the office, for the sake of their staff and the heart of our cities across the country.”
