Stand-up fans can give the gift of laughter this Valentine’s Day as comedy legend and 8 out of 10 Cats star Jon Richardson is revealed as the headliner for the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival.

Famed for his unique brand of self-deprecating humour, the comedy favourite will bring the festival to a close in style with his show at the Music Hall on Saturday October 10.

Best known as a team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4), host of Dave’s Ultimate Worrier, and upcoming sitcom Meet the Richardsons. As well as Would I Lie To You (BBC One), Have I Got News For You (BBC One), Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC One), and Taskmaster (Dave).

Jon has also made appearances on numerous radio shows, including And The Winner Is (BBC Radio 2, hosted by Matt Lucas), Act Your Age (BBC Radio 4), The Museum Of Curiosity (BBC Radio 4) and is also a regular contributor on Five Live’s Fighting Talk. He has also hosted his own Sunday morning radio show on BBC6 Music.

Will the recycling be put out on the right day? Who is going to smooth over the top of the margarine? How many lights are on upstairs when everybody is downstairs? Watch Jon pretend that these aren't his foremost concerns as he leaves home on his first tour since the last one.

So why not skip the chocolates and flowers this Valentine’s Day and win the heart of your intended with a hilarious night out instead, as tickets for Jon’s show go on sale on Friday February 14.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “The Aberdeen International Comedy Festival has fast become a firm favourite in the north-east, attracting not just locals but visitors from further afield. Attracting a name like Jon Richardson is a huge coup for us and we can’t wait to welcome him to the Granite City for the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival.

“Aberdeen Inspired is pleased to continue building on the growth of the festival, which goes from strength to strength each year. We believe the calibre of our line-up is a reflection of that and we are looking forward to more exciting announcements in coming months.

“With festivals like this, now one of Scotland big three comedy festivals, and of course the upcoming Nuart Aberdeen and others in the city like Spectra which kicks off today, Aberdeen is truly establishing itself as a destination of choice and there’s never been a better time to enjoy everything the city has to offer.”

Jon joins already announced Gary Meikle and Tez Ilyas for the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival, with more acts to be announced throughout the year.

Don’t miss out on the chance to make some hilarious memories. Tickets for Jon Richardson: The Knitwit are priced at £25.50 and go on sale at 9.30am on Friday February 14.
