Business Breakfast Aberdeen 900x600

Join us for a business breakfast where Jonathan De Mello, founder of JDM Retail, presents the key findings from Aberdeen Inspired’s Retail and Property Strategy.

This evidence-based review was commissioned by Aberdeen Inspired, with support from Aberdeen City Council, to assess the city centre market, identify gaps in the retail, leisure and hospitality offer, compare Aberdeen with similar places, and recommend practical next steps to attract brands that add value and diversity.

Building on themes already discussed publicly, Jonathan will focus on what the strategy means in practice for city centre businesses, highlighting the key opportunities, challenges and priorities for Aberdeen.

He will share his thoughts at a special business breakfast organised by Aberdeen Inspired on Monday, February 23, from 8am to 10am (registration from 7.30am) at the Douglas Hotel on Market Street.

The event will also include keynote speakers from city centre partners and stakeholders as well as a panel discussion with Jonathan.

Jonathan is a highly respected retail and place expert, with over 25 years’ experience advising towns and cities across the UK on retail strategy, regeneration and property-led change. His independent, evidence-led approach is widely recognised by local authorities, business groups and the media.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “We are very much looking forward to Jonathan sharing his thoughts and ideas around this important piece of work for the future of what we hope will be a roadmap to retail revival in the city centre.

"This is, I believe, a platform for ‘Team Aberdeen’ to come together and take every opportunity offered to revitalise the heart of the Granite City.

“I look forward to welcoming as many people as possible to this unique chance to get a glimpse into what the future of retail and property in the city centre could look like.”

This is a ticketed event which must be booked in advance, with free admittance for Aberdeen Inspired members and a £15 option for non-levy payers.
