City of Aberdeen Distillery - Gin Tasting Masterclass

Learn about the many botanicals that can be used to create full flavoured Scottish Gin - find out why we use premium organic alcohol for an ultra smooth experience, get hands-on with the essential botanicals and taste them individually through specially distilled single distillates before blending these distillates to create your very own blended gin. Now comes a challenge. We've distilled a botanical from the garden, and based on flavour alone, can you guess what we've distilled? We continue with a gin tasting from the range and conclude with a gin and tonic (or gin and preferred mixer) before proceeding to a final Q&A session. The event starts with a double G&T, is led by the Head Distiller and lasts for approximately 2 hours (allow an extra 30 mins for questions/shopping) and costs £49 / person.

Date: Friday 29th September, Friday 6th October

Time: 6pm

City of Aberdeen Distillery - Gin School Experience

Have you ever wanted to distil your very own bottle of Scottish Gin? Become an Aberdeen Distiller at this 3-4 hour experience!

Starting with a double G&T you'll enjoy a thrilling jump back in time to where gin started, the political challenges of a boozy history, the wars and medical discoveries, and find out more about the different styles of gin, eg, London Dry Gin, Macerated Gin, Old Tom Gins.

Shortly after you'll be whisked away to the production area with a focus on the methods of distillation and how you can make your own gin at home (legally!) - this is a great time to ask any questions you might have about how gin is made.

Following on from an introduction to the base botanicals that make gin, you'll be guided around the extensive botanical garden boasting over 100 different spices, herbs, nuts, flowers, berries, teas, coffees etc., helped to understand the different ways to craft your perfect gin recipe and find out more about what flavour the botanicals impart. Assistance is on hand throughout so you can proudly and confidently create your ideal flavour of Scottish Gin. Drinks are served throughout and a tasting of the range is also included.

Your gin has now been distilled - it's time to choose the ABV of your gin, bottle it and ... the hard part ... give your gin a name!

The event concludes with a berry and Prosecco cocktail to celebrate you've become an official Aberdeen Distiller. The experience lasts 3-4 hours and you'll leave with a full-sized 70cl bottle of gin to your own recipe. The experience costs £120 / person.
