Our very own winter wonderland, Curated at the Quad market at Marischal College, will once again create a magical atmosphere this weekend, where you can pick out the perfect gifts for your family and friends from our amazing range of stallholders. Over the coming weeks, we will introduce you to a few who are selling their interesting items at this year’s market.
Today it’s the turn of Bruce Adam from Shadow Shapes who creates decorative eco-friendly, lightweight silhouettes of dogs, cats and other animals from recycled plastic that can be placed on ledges around the home or office. Shadow Shapes will be at Curated in the Quad market from Friday 25 November- Sunday 27November.

Can you tell us more about you and why you set up the company?
The Shadow Shapes concept and brand was established shortly after the first COVID lockdown. Our conventional business-to-business activities just stopped and (in some desperation!) we decided to develop a consumer product that we could sell direct online and which used the same equipment, skills and materials that we had in stock. We are aware of the emotional bond people have with pets, especially dogs, cats and horses, so these were our first designs. We have had a fantastic response and the feel-good factor we get from the joy our customers express when they receive the product.
Can you tell us about the products you are selling at the Christmas Market?
Shadow Shapes and Shadow Hearts are decorative products that feature
the silhouette (or shadow) of dogs, cats and horses/ponies (plus some other
regional wildlife animals as a tester). They are designed and manufactured at
our studio in Aberdeen from recycled plastic. The lightweight design enables
them to be safely placed on the frames of pictures, mirrors, doorways, computer monitors (home and office!) and TV’s, anywhere there is a shallow
ledge and where your best pals would look good!
Why did you decide to take part in this year’s Christmas Market?
While we sell most of our product online, we value the opportunity to meet with our prospective customers and hear first-hand what they like or what they would like. This event being on our doorstep is just a great opportunity to meet a wide cross-section of pet owners, gift buyers and Christmas shoppers.
What are you looking forward to at the Christmas Market?
Meeting and talking with lots of people, finding out more about
there thoughts on our existing products and ideas for development.
