The Wee Scottish Cider Company, is known for its unique Champagne Method Seidear crafted from apples grown in Scottish castle gardens, and is set to showcase at Curated In The Quad. Inspired by the orchards in Scottish castle gardens, the company started as a backyard venture, pressing apples with a homemade press to create the finest cider.
WHO IS BEHIND SEIDEAR CIDER?
Can you tell us more about you and why you set up the company?
We started collecting apples from our own garden, building a press with the boys using some wood and a car jack - because we loved the freshly pressed apple juice, and the cider that it turned into a few months later. The orchards in the Scottish castle gardens inspired us to plant an orchard ourselves and work closely with many walled gardens, including the National Trust.
Scottish apples have a great depth of flavour, because they enjoy more sun light during their growing season than their cousins in the south. These apples are ideal for making high-end cider. We have won national and international awards, the best in class for dry sparkling cider in Spain, best in class keeved cider at the British Cider Championship, and most recently the Scottish Excellence Award. This is not cider, this is Seidear.
The Wee Scottish Cider Company is crafting Champagne Method Seidear from apples grown is Scottish castle gardens.
