Comedy fans are in line for a super Sunday as the latest acts are confirmed for the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival.

In a bumper line- up, Sofie Hagen, Stuart Goldsmith, Mr Fibbers and Men with Coconuts will join already announced John Finnemore to perform on Sunday October 6 at a variety of locations in the city centre.

This will be Danish comedian Sofie Hagen’s first time at the festival with her biggest Aberdeen show yet. Sofie’s assured, informed and deeply personal comedy has made her a star in the UK and throughout Europe. With a four week London run of her show and numerous projects in development, she is one of the most in-demand new voices on the circuit.

Internationally award-winning comedian, writer, podcaster and host Stuart Goldmith has a reputation for smart, accessible stand-up. A familiar face on the London and the national circuit, Stuart is surprisingly candid about his exploits, sexploits and textploits, and likes to get his teeth into love, romance and the downside of getting what you want.

One of the UK’s leading improv troupes, Men with Coconuts are returning to the festival for the third time hot on the heels of their first international tour to New Zealand and Australia. Unplanned, unscripted and unbelievable, the group have become a firm favourite in Aberdeen and fans will be delighted to see them return. Mr Fibbers is the first confirmed children’s show for AICF and is sure to delight with a show packed with jokes, games and comedy songs.

Continuing the laughs into the week, Abandoman and Christopher Macarthur-Boyd have also joined the eclectic line up for the festival, both performing on Tuesday October 8. This will be followed by Britain’s Got Talent favourite Daliso Chaponda, who will be in action at Aberdeen Art Centre on Sunday 13 October.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “We are proud to have secured new talent on the rise such as Sofie Hagen and established names like Stuart Goldsmith for the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival.

“Adding names like this, along with Men with Coconuts, who are making a welcome return to Aberdeen, Mr Fibbers, Abandoman, Christopher Macarthur-Boyd and of course Daliso Chaponda, is a big coup for the festival. This is shaping up to be our must ambitious festival yet and we are looking forward to bringing plenty of laughs to the city this October.”

Irish hip hop musical comedian Rob Broderick aka Abandoman is making a much anticipated return to Aberdeen since his last visit supporting Ed Sheeran at the Music Hall in 2012. Using his trademark blend of audience interaction and razor-sharp improvisation, Abandoman will take his audience on a magical journey, transforming the crowd’s likes, loathes and daydreams into hit songs and captivating tales.

Hotly tipped Scottish comedian Christopher Macarthur Boyd has been newly signed to comedy giants Off The Kerb, which is home to the likes of Dara O'Brien, Kevin Bridges, Jack Dee and Michael Mcintyre. The Glaswegian stand-up, who has performed stand-up internationally everywhere from downtown Toronto to the Perth and Adelaide Fringe Festivals in Australia, returns to Aberdeen for the festival with a brand new show, Dreamboat.

After a sell-out festival appearance in 2017, Daliso Chaponda will make a welcome return to AICF with his brand new show Blah Blah Backlist on his biggest tour to date. Daliso shot to fame on Britain’s Got Talent making it to the final of the 2017 series establishing himself a firm favourite with the judges and the British public. He became a Facebook and YouTube star amassing over 100 million views of his performances.

The Aberdeen International Comedy Festival will run at a multitude of city venues, bars and clubs over the course of 11 days from Thursday 3 October until Sunday 13 October 2019. It will continue to shine a spotlight on local talent as well as showcasing the best acts on both the national and international comedy circuit. The festival has been organised and promoted in its entirety by Aberdeen Inspired since 2016 with generous support from The McGinty’s Group Scotland and Balmoral Group.
