Tickets go on sale 10am Friday 6 July for gigs by comedians Phill Jupitus, Desiree Burch, Larry Dean and Tiff Stevenson who will bring their acclaimed shows to the Granite City later this year.

Launched by Aberdeen Inspired in 2016, the festival will be held from Thursday, October 4 to Saturday, October 13 and has already announced major headline gigs by Reginald D Hunter, David O’Doherty and Tom Allen amongst others.

The ten-day festival will also feature city debuts by some of comedy’s most critically lauded new talent, performing at various venues throughout the city centre, such as The Blue Lamp, Spin and The Tunnels.

Alternative comedy legend Phill Jupitus is a stand-up comedian, poet, improviser, and TV stalwart. Millions of viewers know him as the ‘deadpan one’ from BBC2’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks and as a regular guest on QI (BBC2).

This experienced funny man will bring his show ‘Juplicity’ to the Douglas Hotel on Monday 8 October, and drag laughs out of the chaos of his own life and the uncertain world that surrounds it.

In a real coup for the Festival, Desiree Burch makes her Aberdeen debut in the intimate surrounds of the Blue Lamp on Wednesday 10 October with her brand new show.

Described as an “eye catching show from a comedian deservedly on the rise”, Desiree is a familiar face from her multiple TV appearances such as ‘Have I Got News For You’ (BBC), ‘Live at the Apollo’ (BBC), and ‘QI’ (BBC) and is a regular fringe sell-out.

As seen on Comedy Central at the Comedy Store, and fresh out of a sell-out international tour, fast-rising star Larry Dean returns to the city for his biggest show yet at the Park Inn by Radisson.

Larry will perform his sure-fire Fringe sell-out new show ‘Bampot’ and share his thoughts on Scottishness, sodomites and self-esteem with Aberdeen’s comedy fans on Sunday 7 October.

Critically acclaimed stand-up Tiff Stevenson, who comedy fans will know from her appearances on Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats and the BAFTA nominated People Just Do Nothing is another Granite City debut for the festival.

Tiff has been described as a ‘must see star’ on her sell-out Edinburgh Fringe runs and will be bringing her hit show ‘BOMBSHELL’ to the Carmelite Hotel on Thursday 11 October.

In 2017, thousands flocked to Aberdeen Comedy Festival shows with audiences increased by 30 percent compared to the debut festival in 2016.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “As we enter the third year of the Aberdeen Comedy Festival, we are delighted to bring fringe favourites, comedy legends and stand-out headliners to entertain the city’s audiences again.”

“Our aim is to develop Scotland’s third largest and fastest growing comedy festival which will provide the best comedy, of all genres, for both residents and visitors to enjoy right here in Aberdeen.”

“We would like to thank all of the venues that continue to support the festival, it has been a great success over the last two years and we are committed to building on this success as the festival matures.”

“We would encourage Aberdonians and people from the wider north-east to make the most of the award winning comedy in the city.”

Aberdeen Inspired is the banner under which the Aberdeen Business Improvement District (BID) operates. It is a business-led initiative within the city centre in which levy payers within the BID zone contribute.

Proceeds are used to fund projects designed to improve the business district. Due to its on-going success, the organisation won 2017 European BID of the Year in July.
