Retailers Against Crime (RAC) will hold an intelligence briefing in Aberdeen to give local shops and businesses cutting-advice to combat the rising tide of theft and shoplifting.
The event, to be held on Tuesday, May 26, from noon to 1.30pm is being supported by Aberdeen Inspired and Police Scotland.
This intelligence briefing from the national organisation will focus on the most active suspects, current crime trends, footage showing methods used to commit offences and real examples of shoplifting tools employed by criminals.
RAC will also provide further insight into their crime intelligence database, followed by presentations from Police Scotland and Aberdeen Inspired.
Stephanie Karté, CEO of Retailers Against Crime, said: “Retailers Against Crime are pleased to be coming to Aberdeen to deliver this intelligence briefing in partnership with Police Scotland and Aberdeen Inspired.
“These sessions are vital in supporting local retailers by providing them with up-to-date intelligence on emerging crime trends, prolific offenders and practical prevention strategies. By working collaboratively, we can help businesses better protect their staff, reduce losses and create a safer retail environment across the city.”

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said the city centre Business Improvement District was delighted to support the briefing, and urged as many local traders as possible to attend the event, to be held in the board room of the Bon Accord Centre.
“We know that retail crime is a real scourge for local shops and businesses and we frequently hear from our levy payers about how damaging it is to them, especially at a time when so many are struggling in these tough economic times,” said Adrian.
“Aberdeen Inspired wants to do everything we can go help them, which is why we are supporting this vital event. The briefing is to give retailers the tools they need to be aware of how shoplifters operate, the emerging crime trends they need to be aware of and the safeguards they can take to minimise their risk and exposure.
“It is also an ideal way for traders to build bridges with agencies such as Police Scotland and Retailers Against Crime who are there to help protect them and their business.”
