His Majesty’s panto Sleeping Beauty might be over but the magic lingers on for Gillian Donald and her eight-year-old daughter, Lexi.
They are the winners of a family ticket to see 2024’s fantastic pantomime at HMT – Jack And The Beanstalk – after Lexi posed in front of the iconic Aberdeen Big Letters before a trip to the theatre over the festive season.
The prize was offered by Aberdeen Inspired and Aberdeen Performing Arts, after the Letters in Union Terrace Gardens were given a Sleeping Beauty design for the run of the panto at HMT.
We asked people to pose with the panto-themed Letters before going to see Sleeping Beauty then share their magical image online, with a winner to be chosen at random – and that was Gillian and Lexi, who are from Chapelton.

“We are really delighted to accept the tickets for Jack And The Beanstalk and Lexi will be so excited,” said Gillian. “She loves the HMT panto – we always go - and I know that for the next 11 months Lexi is going to be asking me about it every day.”
Gillian said Lexi was a huge fan of the Aberdeen Letters and has often posed beside them.
“We all like the Letters and we actually really like the way Union Terrace Gardens are looking just now.”
Gillian and Lexi have won a family ticket for two adults and two children to see Jack And The Beanstalk at His Majesty’s on Sunday, December 1.
Jack And The Beanstalk will run at HMT from Saturday, 30th November, to Sunday, 5th January. You can find out more and buy tickets here.
