A leading North East business organisation shortlisted for three national awards celebrated a double win last night at the Association of Town Centre Management (ATCM) Awards 2018.

Aberdeen Inspired was awarded the blue ribbon award of ‘UK and Ireland’s Best Partnership’ for cutting edge partnership work in both daytime and evening economies and successfully linking the two.

The business organisation was also awarded ‘Best Environmental Contribution’ in the U.K. and Ireland for an innovative trade waste policy and a host of other initiatives.

European BID of the Year 2017, Aberdeen Inspired, had been shortlisted for Inspirational Leader of the Year, Partnership of the Year and Best Environmental Contribution.

Nicola Johnston, Aberdeen’s Evening and Night Time Economy Manager was also runner up in the Inspirational Leader of the Year award.

The award ceremony, which was held in Hull on Wednesday, June 27, was attended by business leaders and delegates from across the country that all have their part to play in place management.

Adrian Watson, chief executive officer at Aberdeen Inspired said: “Being shortlisted as a finalist for three awards was a great recognition of our work for Aberdeen city centre but winning UK and Ireland’s Best Partnership and Best Environmental Contribution serves as an inspiration to the city, the wider north-east, and across the country.”

“All the hard work that goes into our projects and initiatives is focussed on driving the city forward. To be recognised for our partnership working in particular, is a fantastic achievement for us and the city as a whole.”

“However we all understand there is no room for complacency, with much still to do, but delighted to be again to be recognised again as leading the way in our field in U.K. and Ireland.”

Aberdeen Inspired is the banner under which the Aberdeen Business Improvement District (BID) operates. It is a business-led initiative within the city centre in which levy payers within the BID zone contribute.

Proceeds are used to fund projects designed to improve the business district. Due to its on-going success, the organisation won 2017 European BID of the Year in July.
