Aberdeen Inspired are donning their running shoes later this month to raise funds for Friends of Anchor.
A team from the business organisation have been in training for the Great Aberdeen Run 10K, which is expected to bring thousands of people into the city centre.
Aberdeen Inspired, which is also a key partner for the running event, is aiming to raise as much as possible for FOA's £2m ANCHORED Together appeal for The ANCHOR Centre, which is set to open in 2021.
Friend of Anchor's ambitious fundraising target is over and above the £32m project cost, and will equip the building with top-of-the-range fixtures, equipment, a dedicated research suite and teaching facility as well as new additions like a complementary therapy room, a teenage and young adult room, patient information space and a coffee lounge area.
Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “Our team decided we wanted to support a local charity close to our hearts and what better way than to take part in a great local event.
“Training has been underway for some time now and we are all looking forward to wearing our red Friends of Anchor t shirts with pride and running the scenic 10k course for the Great Aberdeen Run.
“There is always a fantastic atmosphere on the day and there is still time for people to sign up for both the 10K and the half marathon. With so many key charities and causes benefiting from the sweat, laughter and tears, as a key partner in the Great Aberdeen Run we would encourage the public to get involved, get active and take part.”
Carly Munro, Finance and Fundraising Co-ordinator for Friends of ANCHOR, said: “We’re thrilled to have the team at Aberdeen Inspired pulling on their red T-shirts to fly the flag for Friends of ANCHOR as they take part in the Great Aberdeen Run. It’s wonderful to see the organisation getting involved and encouraging others to do the same.
“The Great Aberdeen Run has firmly established itself as a highlight in the city’s event calendar and we’re pleased to be part of it as an affiliated charity. We’re looking forward to joining the Aberdeen Inspired runners and all our other runners at the start line and we hope to see lots of familiar faces there!”
