Aberdeen’s Festival of the Sea has set sail for two weeks of maritime-inspired activities and events across the Granite City.
Running until Sunday, July 26, the event celebrates Aberdeen’s rich seafaring heritage and its deep, ongoing connection with the sea, with a packed programme for all ages.
Councillor Martin Greig said: “Festival of the Sea is a fantastic opportunity for residents and visitors to celebrate Aberdeen’s historic bond with the ocean, especially after last year’s Tall Ships Races.
“There are so many wonderful activities taking place across the city, and I hope that everyone can take part and find something they enjoy. I am especially looking forward to seeing the pirate trail bring lots of joy.”
Also available is the Iconic Bricks Pirate Trail, a new free fun trail that all ages can enjoy, where 18 pirate-themed brick models can be found in shops and businesses across Aberdeen’s city centre.

Activities featured on this year’s programme include arts and craft sessions for children and their families, relaxed creative sessions for adults, beachcombing and storytelling.

Sea-themed activities for all ages will take place in Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums, from maritime trails to fun, creative sessions, workshops and exhibitions.
In addition, the historic Tall Ship Reaper, visiting from the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther, will be available to view from the quayside, where visitors can step onboard from 23-25 July and explore its history.
Fusion Youth Dance Company will perform live alongside Reaper on Friday, July 24, bringing to life the stories of the Herring Girls through a powerful and evocative dance performance.
Now in its third year, Festival of the Sea will take place at venues across Aberdeen, including Aberdeen Art Gallery, Aberdeen Maritime Museum, community spaces in Fittie and Torry, Aberdeen Science Centre, Beach Ballroom and Greyhope Bay Centre.
