Aberdeen Inspired's main objectives include supporting businesses through creating a safe and welcoming environment in our city centre. Key to achieving these objectives is our City Centre Manager, Innes Walker. The City Centre Manager position is funded by Aberdeen City Council and managed by Aberdeen Inspired - a unique arrangement nationally - and is a crucial first point of contact for so many city centre businesses, not only being the ‘eyes and ears’ in representing city centre interests but the conduit into council structures and so many other partner agencies.

Since joining Aberdeen Inspired 2 years ago, Innes has played a critical role in supporting enterprise within the Business Improvement District, hosting our many business network groups, as well as assisting with individual difficulties businesses may be facing and supporting them through the current COVID-19 crisis. The City Centre Manager role also provides an effective conduit to key partners such as Aberdeen City Council and Police Scotland.

As well as this Innes has lead on projects such as the Trade Waste project and the parklets programme, ensuring the city centre is well maintained, safe and vibrant, and helping Aberdeen city centre achieve the Purple Flag status for a record seven years in a row.

"It has been a privilege to support our city centre business, no more so than over the past year, which has seen so many challenges in the city centre. Aberdeen Inspired have ensured that business has a strong voice in shaping of city centre initiatives and remain committed to supporting and developing the City Centre Masterplan. I am grateful to Aberdeen City Council, Police Scotland and other key partners for their support in securing the Purple Flag for a record term, ensuring we have a safe and welcoming city centre ready for a successful return to business in 2021." - Innes Walker, City Centre Manager at Aberdeen Inspired

Through these challenging times in our city centre, Innes is keen to engage with businesses who may need support and guidance, and welcomes any queries businesses may have.
