During the early 2000’s, tags and stencils started appearing in Aberdeen city centre and down numerous back alleys: a policewoman, DJ and bag piper all painted in the same vein as Banksy’s early work. These pieces were created by stencil artist Elki, with the now infamous bag piper on Jopps Lane one of the longest standing pieces of street art in The Granite City.

It seemed only right to invite ELKI back to add something new to the wall where his piper is now joined by a kilted Jaune character. For his new piece you can see the clear evolution in ELKIs style and skill, opting to create a large-scale piece of headphones on a set of technics turntables. The image is a tribute to his clubbing days in Aberdeen and a nod to the underground club cultures that exist in the city. Hundreds of hours went into the cutting of the stencils to create the incredibly detailed final image which you can find on Jopps Lane beside the big Fintan Magee mural.
