Linkedin High Street

Our CEO Adrian Watson spoke to STV this afternoon off the back of a PwC report on Scottish high streets.

This is a time of transition for all our town and city centre, not least Aberdeen as we look to re-purpose the space.

Respecting the inevitable closures, there have been some fantastic examples of ‘new entrants’ where local businesses have shown confidence on our main street and invested heavily in exciting new projects.

This is complemented by our great shopping centres that have looked to build on their offering by blending in a leisure offering and of course our wide range of independent retailers who continue to offer the very best the city and region has to offer.

Strategically, our vehicle of delivery has to be the Masterplan that has already realised several notable successes, including Broad Street (MSq), the re-vamped Music Hall and soon to open Art Gallery.

A more blended approach is needed, with ‘city living’ and more offices such as the Silver Finn, Marsichal Square and Capitol being great exemplars on state of the art accommodation being made available for businesses relocating to the heart of our great city.
