Aberdeen Inspired is proud to play a pivotal role in bringing The Tall Ships Races back to Aberdeen in 2025.

Organised annually by Sail Training International, this world-renowned event draws ships from across the globe to compete in thrilling races and participate in vibrant shoreside celebrations.

Youth-focused and spectacular, The Tall Ships Races create an unforgettable experience in every port they visit.

Aberdeen last hosted The Tall Ships Races in 1991 and 1997, and now, after 28 years, Europe’s largest free family event returns to our city from 19th to 22nd July 2025. We are thrilled to welcome an estimated 400,000 visits to the city and some 50 majestic Tall Ships to Aberdeen, transforming our city into a global maritime hub.

With the collaboration between Aberdeen Inspired, the Port of Aberdeen, and Aberdeen City Council, the North Harbour at Port of Aberdeen, including Upper Dock and Regent Quay, will be transformed from an energy hub into an extraordinary event space.

This transformation sets the stage for the arrival of the Tall Ships and marks the beginning of an incredible four-day extravaganza.

The festivities will kick off on the 19th with the fleet’s arrival and a grand opening ceremony. The following day, the city centre will come alive as over 1,500 sailors join the international crew parade, bringing with them a vibrant mix of live music, dance, and theatre.

As the only UK host port for The Tall Ships Races in 2025, Aberdeen stands to gain significantly, with the event expected to inject tens of millions of pounds into the city and wider economy.

We are excited to see Aberdeen shine on the world stage once again and to create lasting memories for everyone who joins in the fun

So get ready, get excited and get involved as the Tall Ships set sail for the Granite City.
