A bit about yourself & a fun fact!

I’m a 20-year-old Digital Marketing student at RGU. For as long as I can remember I have been glued to my phone and had an obsession with social media. When I began the process of looking for a university course, digital marketing seemed like a no brainer. The degree offers opportunities to work in virtually any sector, in a flexible environment which is ever changing. No day is the same in digital marketing and that felt really important to me.

A fun fact about me is my go-to karaoke song is American Boy by Estelle and Kanye West. My friend Becca and I duet it and I make an exceptional Kanye. Less said about that one the better!

Why did you apply for Aberdeen Inspired?

After over a year of online learning due to the pandemic, as my placement approached, I was eager to start something completely new. After my interview with Aberdeen Inspired, I soon realised that they could offer me an opportunity to work amongst a friendly and passionate team who would guide me through my digital marketing journey and show me how to effectively put my knowledge into practice. Having worked in hospitality from age 14, events such as restaurant week and the team’s general enthusiasm for supporting this sector is something which really sparked my interest.

What do you hope to learn whilst at Aberdeen Inspired – anything you want to focus on specifically?

Starting my placement seemed daunting, as while I have been showered with knowledge at RGU, I was curious to see how I’d put it into practice. Even after my first week, where I’ve been given the opportunity to write blog posts, schedule content and develop my CMS skills – it is evident I will get the opportunity to participate in a range of different roles.
