Meet the Curated In The Quad Stallholder, Lauren Houston, and discover her handmade homewares company.
Utilising terrazzo and marble effects in her resin designs, Lauren Houston is the creative behind Lauren Victoria Designs and will be one of the stallholders bringing interior products to this year's Curated In The Quad.
We reached out to this talented creative to find out why she loves being part of Curated In The Quad, which unique things people will find at her stall, and why she things it is such a special event.
WHO IS BEHIND LAUREN VICTORIA DESIGNS?
Can you tell us more about you and why you set up the company?
Hello! I’m Lauren founder of Lauren Victoria Designs. I have a BA hons in textile design, specialist in woven textiles. I worked in industry of textiles for 5 years abroad before moving back to Scotland in late 2021 to pursue this new adventure!
The pandemic gave me time to reflect on how I wanted to move forward in my career with the knowledge I had gained over my time in the design sector. I had a longing to go back to interior based design that I found a love for while at university.
This is also around the time I discovered resin-based product design and terrazzo, while attending trend forecasting shows in Milan. With these materials we have the ability to create something, not only beautiful and unique, but also low waste in its manufacture and seasonally transitional. All this contributed to the draw I felt and what led to LVD’s creation.
Can you tell us about the products you are selling at Curated In The Quad?
Everything is interiors based for every room in your home, from trays, to candle holders and jewellery dishes. Items that can work together as well as stand alone and are interchangeable regardless of room type. Using resins both epoxy and eco to create low waste products perfectly unique for every and any home.
Why did you decide to take part in this year’s Curated In The Quad?
This is our first full Christmas as a business and couldn’t think of a better opportunity to meet the people of Aberdeen and to show off our products than being a part of the Quad.
What are you looking forward to at Curated In The Quad?
Looking forward to a fun filled weekend meeting lots of lovely customers and fellow stall holders. While bringing a buzz back to the city centre of Aberdeen.
