Last week, the Aberdeen Inspired team got the chance to catch up with Neil Smith, the manager of Bloom, who’s lively and bubbly personality fits in perfectly with his light and airy hairdressing & beauty salon. Bloom have a natural and environmentally friendly brand ethos and offer a number of services from haircuts, manicures, pedicures and even massages!
Located on Rose Street, an area of Aberdeen filled with lots of local shops and supportive shop owners, the salon opened only three weeks before the pandemic. Neil has a positive outlook on opening during such an uncertain time, describing it as a roller coaster with positive and negatives, but an overall success. His team have grown closer, and has found that more than ever, people are more relaxed about booking appointments. Being only 1 years old, the salon plans to recruit more staff and begin hosting events in the evenings.
Neil’s favourite thing about hairdressing is getting to know people, saying it helps to get to know how people do their hair at home. He clearly has a knack for faces, remembering one of our marketing interns from when she was a child and he used to cut her mums hair!
