Marischal College has joined a global movement to raise awareness for World Encephalitis Day, on Thursday, the 22nd of February. This day serves as a reminder for those directly or indirectly affected by encephalitis, a serious condition impacting the brain.

World Encephalitis Day 2024 aims to shed light on a condition that affects millions worldwide. Since its launch, this day has reached millions through media features, events, and social media, with the hope of playing a leading role in increasing global awareness of encephalitis, saving lives, and building better futures.

Encephalitis, often triggered by viral infections or autoimmune diseases, can lead to severe neurological complications and, if left untreated, can be life-threatening. Recognising the critical importance of timely diagnosis and treatment, Marischal College stands alongside 214 landmarks and buildings across 26 countries, participating in #lightalandmark.

Lights will be on from 05:00 - 10:00 and 15:00 - 00:00 today at Marischal College.

As the sun sets at 17:23, head down and see the bright red illumination after 17:30pm.
