Nuart Aberdeen promises fun packed festival weekend

We have a range of exciting events and entertainment planned to celebrate the return of Aberdeen’s much loved street art festival - Nuart Aberdeen.

Walking tours, public art workshops, an exclusive film screening, talks, festival food, drink and craft stalls and staged entertainment are all planned for the fun-filled festival weekend.

The festival will be officially opened at 1pm on Saturday 11 June as part of a special Inspired Nights event on Broad Street.

Free walking tours around the new art installations will kick off after the official launch ceremony and run at regular times on the Saturday and Sunday. The programme of events also includes exclusive film screenings at the Belmont Cinema, a street collage workshop run at NESCOL, a conference which will explore the festival theme of Reconnect at the Cowdray Hall on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 June plus a family friendly chalk street art experience on Sunday 12 June.

Commenting on the announcement of the festival programme, Adrian Watson, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Inspired said “What better place than Aberdeen city centre to act as the perfect stage for the events that will bolster our highly acclaimed street art festival, Nuart Aberdeen.

“Everyone will find something to enjoy as part of the festival weekend and the programme of events, workshops, film screenings and tours simply act as a further draw to reconnect people with the city.

“We know that the festival appeals to both locals and visitors who come from far and wide to marvel at the public art that is created. The additional events simply give visitors from further afield even more reasons to travel to Aberdeen, join in the celebrations and be part of the triumphant return of the festival.

“I can feel the excitement building in the city and encourage people to come out and enjoy all that is on offer. The return of Nuart Aberdeen offers a huge boon to our city centre businesses and its value to the city should not be underestimated.”

Check out the full line up of events here.

We’re also looking for enthusiastic volunteers who wish to gain some valuable experience at Nuart Aberdeen 2022. Find out more and apply here.

AICF Hal 34 Call for venues

Comedy Festival - Call for venues and festival offers

At the beginning of May we put a call out for city centre businesses to get in touch if they wanted to act as host venues for Aberdeen’s International Comedy Festival. We have had a great response and will be in touch over the next few weeks to arrange a visit to check out the spaces on offer.

It’s not too late to be host a space for the festival. If this is something you are interested in, then please contact us info@aberdeeninspired.com

The comedy festival is running this year from 6 to 16 of October and is bringing in some of the UK's favourite and most hilarious comedians to the Granite City.

If you’re an accommodation provider, restaurant or bar you should also start planning festival deals for visitors to the city which will encourage them to stay, eat or drink with you during the festival days and nights. We will promote all festival offers in our marketing material and social channels so be sure to let us know what you plan to do.

Business Waste Collections Reminder

Aberdeen City Council is seeking to remind local businesses and third sector organisations (including charities, voluntary and community organisations) in the city centre about their duty of care for the disposal of their business waste.

The Council has received several complaints in recent months about overflowing communal bins caused by unauthorised business waste. Our aim is to work together with businesses to address these issues to improve the look and feel of our city centre for customers, residents and the general public.

The Council provides on-street bins for household collections of general waste, mixed recycling and food waste. Business waste, including food waste, should not be disposed of in these bins.

We ask that all businesses assist us by ensuring your staff understand your waste management plan and use only bins allocated and approved by your waste contractor and disposing of large items and cardboard appropriately.

The Council values local businesses and third sector organisations and recognises some of the challenges you face to manage your waste sustainably, including a lack of space to store bins. Where possible, our trade waste service offers bespoke waste collection arrangements to meet your needs. If you’d like to discuss potential options that may suit your business, you can contact businesswaste@aberdeencity.gov.uk
