Have you spotted the flowers around the city centre?

In partnership with Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen Inspired has played a key role in delivering the floral enhancements to our city centre, including the liberal sprinkling of hanging baskets and the tree planters (see pic below!)

Angela Joss, Community and Environmental Coordinator runs the “Adopt an Area” where we support further planting such the Bridge Street Wildflower Meadow, wildflower planting at Harriet Street and Crooked Lane, plus planters in various locations.

“At the moment, there is particular emphasis on pollen bearing plants, to support Aberdeen Inspired’s Award winning Urban Bee Project, so we are currently majoring on wildflowers and fruiting trees. We always take full advantage of Aberdeen City Council's free spring bulbs offer, which our volunteers plants in various locations in the autumn. Robert Gordon’s School has been very helpful with this. We continue to engage with many businesses and third sector organisations to support us in these efforts, with, for instance, the Alcohol and Drugs Action volunteers provide year round support”.

Aberdeen Inspired’s efforts are regularly recognised by the ‘Keep Scotland Beautiful’ judging panel and are committed to enhancing the attractiveness and bio-diversity of our city centre.
