One of the most-acclaimed and spectacular West End shows of recent years is heading for His Majesty’s Theatre as the first Scottish date on its first UK tour.
Life Of Pi – which has won a slew of Olivier and Tony Awards – will thrill and delight Aberdeen audiences at HMT from Tuesday, January 30, to Saturday, February 5, with a stunning mix of live theatre, astounding sets and astonishing puppetry.
Based on the Man Booker Prize winning novel by Yann Martel, the stage version of an epic journey of endurance and hope won five Olivier Awards in 2022 and three Tony awards in 2023.
Aberdeen Performing Arts director of programming and creative projects, Ben Torrie, said: “Life Of Pi is a truly remarkable piece of theatre with extraordinary scenery and puppetry and a unique and powerful story.
“It will be so exciting to see such a huge production on the His Majesty’s Theatre stage and we’re proud to be the first place in Scotland where you can see this stunning production.”
After a cargo ship sinks in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean, there are five survivors stranded on a single lifeboat – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, a 16-year-old boy and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. Time is against them, nature is harsh, who will survive?
