The lucky winner of a £500 Aberdeen Gift Card says scooping the prize sent his heart racing.

Dr Gordon Watt won the prize in the great giveaway organised by Union Square and Aberdeen Inspired – who introduced Aberdeen Gift Card to the Granite City.

“It feels surreal, but fantastic,” said the 39-year-old mechanical surveyor from Muggiemoss.

“When I saw my name come up as the winner on Facebook, I looked at my watch and I saw my heart rate had gone up.”

Gordon said he was still unsure as to what he would spend the £500 gift card on.

“I think my wife has her eyes on putting it towards a holiday and Barrhead Travel take the gift card, or we could try out some local restaurants we have not been to.”

Gordon was delighted to be chosen as the prizewinner in the contest and praised the concept behind Aberdeen Gift Card which aims to boost city businesses by encouraging people to shop local.

He said: “I think it is a great idea. I wasn’t really aware of it before but I think the gift card is something I will probably use from now on.”
